Welcome To The Resort Village of Elk Ridge

The Resort Village of Elk Ridge was established in January of 2022.  The premier all-season resort community is nestled in the Northern Boreal Forest, 50 minutes north of Prince Albert on the doorstep of the Prince Albert National Park and home of Saskatchewan's premier all season Resort.  The municipality originated with the vision and determination of Resort Founder and Entrepreneur Arne Petersen in the early 1990’s.

The Resort Village of Elk Ridge offers the beauty of the boreal forest with urban services including sewer and water, paved roads, power, natural gas, telephone and internet.   Whether your wanting to visit, own a dream vacation property or a retirement home, the Elk Ridge community has options to suit your needs.

The Resort Village of Elk Ridge is a great place to live, work and visit!

Wildfire Update #4 - July 19, 2025

Please find attached today's joint Parks Canada and Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) Info Bulletin on the Buhl Fire.

The fire burned approximately 45, 667 hectares – 9,575 hectares within park boundaries and 36,092 hectares on provincial Crown land. Current resources assigned to the incident include 109 personnel not including additional SPSA support staff, 9 helicopters, and 11 pieces of heavy equipment.

Fire Distance from Communities: Please note these are approximations and not exact distances. This information is only provided as a reference. Continue to monitor and follow instructions provided through the various emergency channels.

Ramsay Bay – 9 km.
Montreal Lake – 12 km
Waskesiu – 31 km
Bittern Lake – 32 km
Elk Ridge – 35 km
McPhee Lake – 38 km

While there has not been significant movement towards Waskesiu or other communities in the last few days, the danger has not passed, and conditions can change quickly. Please remain vigilant.

The pre-evacuation alert for Prince Albert National Park remains in effect. This means that residents and visitors should be prepared and ready to evacuate if required on possible short notice, and that vulnerable individuals may choose to leave now and or consider not traveling to the area.

We understand this is a challenging time for many in the region. While we will often refer to the town of Waskesiu as it's located within the national park, I would like to share that we stand alongside our neighboring communities being impacted by the Buhl Fire, especially Montreal Lake Cree Nation and Ramsay Bay, who are located even closer to the fire. I also recognize this has been a challenging summer for small, seasonal businesses in the region.

Finally, I would like to extend immense gratitude to all personnel fighting this fire and other fires across the province, for your dedicated and tireless efforts to keep us all safe.

Sincerely,
Jennifer Duquette
